Video/Transcript Synching

Video/Transcript Syncing, or “text synching” is a service that we offer. This service is available with several options and is extremely flexible.

What is it?

We take our video files and synchronize them with the written transcript provided by the court reporter. During this process, every line of the written transcript is “time-coded” to the corresponding portion of the video file(s). Once the synchronization is complete, you will be able to manipulate the video/transcript to:

  • Search the written transcript using textual search terms, then instantly find and play the associated video.
  • Highlight a section of the written transcript, then “export” the associated video into a separate “clip” that can be used in other presentation software (i.e. PowerPoint).
  • Easily redact objections, dead air, etc. and play back the redacted deposition video full screen in court for the jury.
Import the synchronized transcript into most major trial management software programs (Trial Director, Summation, Live Note, etc.)

Text Synch large

The DepoviewTM viewer program (shown above) is provided and is used to manipulate the the synchronized video/transcript.  This extremely intuitive program makes it very easy, using a personal computer, to view videos, create video clips for trial, search transcripts, and much more!

DepoViewTM DVD

Additionally, we can provide the synchronized video/transcript on a DepoViewTM DVD.  This DVD can be played in any standard set-top DVD player (or personal computer capable of playing standard video DVDs).  With DepoView DVD, your clients can review video depositions and associated transcripts on a standard DVD player or personal computer. Utilizing patent-pending technology, DepoView DVD is the only product that displays the full transcript in addition to the video footage on a television.

Timing and QC:

Unlike many other text-synching services, we have invested in the tools to perform this synchronization process in house.  Most other synching services require the vendor to send the files into their manual synching centers.  We do the synching IN HOUSE, so we tightly control the timeline and the quality.  Once we have the written transcript from the court reporter, we can usually provide the synchronized product within one business day.

If you’re using trial presentation and/or case management software, then text-synched depositions are a logical step, and will enhance your capabilities within those tools.  If you’d simply like to take control of clip creation and redaction editing, you will LOVE the flexibility offered by these tools.
